Kate Beckinsale

Kathryn Beckinsale was born in the film industry.  Her mother (Judy Loe) and father (Richard Beckinsale) were both actors.  Most people didn’t know that Kate was a rebellious teenager, but a very good school student.  After struggling in her teen years, Beckinsale found herself following in her parent’s footsteps.   

In 1991, Kate starred in her first ever television movie, One Against the Wind, which was a film about World War II.  Beckinsale really wanted to make it as a movie star, but decided to go to college to broaden her studies in language.  She studied Russian and French at Oxford University, but never finished her degree.  
   
By 1998 she had appeared in some low profile films such as, The Last Days of Disco and Shooting Fish.  She also starred in a few television films, Cold Comfort Farm was one of them where she played the role opposite of British silver.  Then, in 1999 she was finally cast for an American film, Brokedown Palace, but the movie was not a commercial success. 

She didn’t get her big break, until 2001 in one the highest grossing movies of the 20th Century, Pearl Harbor.  From there on, she was starring in Serendipity, Underworld and Van Helsing.  However, most critics had difference of opinion for all these movies.  Some people enjoyed them and others didn’t like them at all.  A year later she was asked to play the role of Ava Gardner in the hit film The Aviator.         

Beckinsale is one of the hottest celebrities around and has been placed at number sixteen on Maxim’s HOT 100’s List.  She is a stunning actress and the wife to director Len Wiseman.  She has a daughter named Lily Mo Sheen from actor Michael Sheen.  The two were dating, but never got married.  Her personal life is very separate from her Hollywood life.  She likes to stay out of the public eye as much as possible.       

Recently, Beckinsale starred alongside comedian, Adam Sandler in the hit comedy-drama, Click.  In 2007 Kate has two movies releasing, Snow Angeles and Vacancy.  Currently, she has been cast for the role of Carrie Steko in the comic book thriller, Whiteout.  Whiteout will be released sometime in 2008 and is set to start filming mid March 2007.

Beckinsale is a very talented actress and is satisfied with the quality work that she does.  She may not be seen on television every single day on some talk show because of her quietness, but when she’s filming she is anything but quiet.  She enjoys her life and loves to when people make her laugh.
