Jessica Simpson was born in Dallas, Texas on July 10th, 1980.  Her mother, Tina Simpson and father, Joseph Simpson knew that there was something very special about Jessica when she was just a little girl.  Jessica joined in her church choir and sang her heart out.  When she opened up her mouth beautiful music would come out, she was natural.      

Around the same time, Disney was holding auditions for the Mickey Mouse Club in Orlando, so Jessica decided to go and try out, but during the audition she completely froze.  She left the auditions disappointed and went back to her home town.  Jessica got involved in the drama program at her school and eventually summer was here. 

Her parents sent her off to church camp for summer and during the church showcase at camp, a Christian Music label discovered Jessica’s talent and signed her on their record label.  Unfortunately, the Christian label went bankrupt and Jessica was never able to release her Christian album. 

With the help of her grandmother funding her demo, Jessica and her parents sold copies of her demo while she was on tour with the Christian Youth Conference.  She was determined to be a singer and would not give up on her dreams.  From city to city, she would share the stage with famous Christian singers, until she would finally get her big break.   

Tommy Mottola the head of Columbia Records got a hold of Jessica’s demo and wanted to meet her right away.  During their initial meeting, Mottola took a liking to Jessica and signed the future singer immediately.  In 1999, she released her debut album, Sweet Kisses.  The album was certified double platinum and Jessica became one of the hottest artists around.
