Celebrity Empire

Texas sweetheart, Jessica Simpson wanted to sing since the first time she could speak.  When she was 12, she auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club, but during the finals she got nervous and messed up her chances.  However, even though this happened, she would not turn away from her dreams.  She continued to sing in her church choir and attended a church summer camp. 

Simpson was discovered at the summer camp by a small Christian label.  She was excited and thought that her life was going to change.  Jessica started singing on tour with well known Christian singers, but wanted to take her singing to the next level.  Unfortunately, the label went bankrupt and Jessica had to start recording music on her own.  She spoke to her family and her grandmother decided to start an independent recording label for Jessica.     

Jessica and her father promoted her music by selling her single and eventually signed with Columbia Records, who saw potential in Simpson as a pop artist.  Growing up in the Christian community Jessica always thought that she would be singing Christian songs, but too many people that she was just too sexy for Christian music.

After signing with Columbia Records, Simpson started recording her new album Sweet Kisses.  Once her album hit stores, it wasn’t that popular and Jessica found herself competing with so many other pop artists like, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.  As her music reached more and more people, her fans started to grow and eventually she was loved across the nation. 

She opened up for boy bands including 98 Degrees where she soon met and fell in love with future husband to be, Nick Lachey.  In 2002, America’s favorite couple tied the knot in a very private affair.  After they had gotten married they signed a contract with MTV to star in the first reality television series, Newlyweds.  The couple would have their lives taped daily.  Newlyweds became a huge success and Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey became famous and wealthy.       

The show ran for a few years and finally came to an end, when rumors were floating around about the couple having trouble in their marriage.  Months later the couple wanted to separate and eventually Simpson filed for divorce.  Her fans were blind sided by the news and many blamed Jessica’s father, Joe Simpson for always interfering in the couple’s relationship.

As time flew by Jessica was asked to play the role as Daisy Duke on Dukes of Hazzard.  Her debut film led to starring in another movie, Employee of the Month which is a comedy also starring Dane Cook.  Jessica enjoys comedies, but wants to take on more diversified roles in the future.  She now has her own empire including a clothing line, hair extension line, perfume line and more.  Simpson is on the A-list and one of the paparazzi’s favorite celebrities to photograph.  Life is moving fast for Jessica, but her determination is strong.
