Cameron Diaz 

 

Cameron Michelle Diaz was born on August 30, 1972 in San Diego, California.  Her father is a Cuban American and her mother is an Anglo-German.  She gets her blond hair and blue eyes from her mother.  When she was growing up she was always described as adventurous.  At 16 years old, Cameron left home to pursue a career in modeling. 

 

She met a fashion photographer who introduced her to the Elite Modeling Agency.  Cameron started modeling right away, traveling all over the world before eventually settling back in America with her Hollywood director boyfriend, Carlos De La Torres.  She moved in with him and shortly discovered her love for acting.    

 

Diaz went to an audition for the leading female role in Jim Carey’s film, The Mask.  To her surprise she landed the role and overnight she became a star.  For the next three years, Cameron appeared in commercials and magazines, eventually landing more roles some low budget independent films.  

 

In 1997, Cameron starred in My Best Friend’s Wedding with co-star, Julia Roberts.  The movie was a huge success and from there her acting performances soared.  She received an award for her performance in There’s Something About Mary.  She is now one of highest paid actresses in Hollywood.
