Charlie Angels, Cameron Diaz began her career in the modeling industry. She was a fashion model and signed with the top modeling agency, Elite Model Management. During her High School years, she would do her school work and modeling on the side, but once she graduated, she would start to model in Japan.
In Japan, Diaz met Carlo de la Torre, who is a video director and very popular in the business. They both had interest in one another and when she returned to America, she went to live with him. Within the next couple years, she had signed contracts with several major companies and ended up traveling all over the world. Modeling was a success for Cameron, she was seen on the cover of the July 1990 issue of seventeen magazine and modeled for Calvin Klein and Levi Jeans.
By age 22, Diaz went on an audition for the movie, The Mast starring comedian, Jim Carey. With no acting experience, she was nervous and did not think she would get the part. She ended up walking away from the audition with the Female lead role. As soon as she got the part, she began taking acting classes.
She starred in the movie and over the next few years, she took on roles for some low budget films, She’s the One, The Last Supper and Feeling Minnesota. Finally, she had her breakthrough role of Kimberly Wallace in film, My Best Friends Wedding where she starred along the great, Julia Roberts. After her huge success with the film, other producers were lining up at her door.
Cameron won the British Academy of film and Television Arts award for Best supporting actress and the Screen Actors Award for the same category. Then she was in the movie, Charlie Angels and was the lead voice of Princess Fiona in Shrek. She was in the sequels for both movies as well. Reportedly, Diaz was paid $20 million for her role in Charlie Angels sequel: Full Throttle.
Diaz was recently in a relationship with pop singer and former NSYNC member, Justin Timberlake. The two first met each other at the Kids’ Choice Awards back in 2003. They dated for four years, before issuing a joint statement on January 11, 2007 that they were breaking up. For weeks rumors were going around that the couple had already split, well this time the tabloids were right.
Cameron Diaz was the host for the 2005 MTV television series, Trippin’. Trippin is an environmental documentary filmed at ecological locales around the world. The show was not much of a success and only ran for one season. However, through her adventure she brought along other celebrities, like Eva Mendes, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Alba. She had tons of fun on the television show.
Holiday just released at the end of 2006 and Diaz promoted the movie previews all holiday season. She has already done all the recordings for the voice of Princess Fiona in Shrek the Third, which will release in 2007. Also, in 2007 Shrek the Halls will release, which is in pre-production right now.
